Bintan Lagoon Resort 走一回

Just came back from Bintan Lagoon Resort, was there for a short getaway over the weekend with my honey and a good friend of ours, Mr Ed.

It was a nice short relaxing getaway, nothing like those touch down at airport, rush for cabs, throw luggage when check in at hotel, leave the hotel and shop and eat and club till wee hours trips with the likes of BKK and TPE when every day and night was rush rush rush and more rush.

I guess this short getaway was also because of the great company! Thank you, my dearest Honey and Mr Ed for the wonderful time. I have enjoyed the long chats we had. Nice!

Till I saw thespian Meryl Streep performing "The Winner Takes It All" in "Mamma Mia!", and I was completely bowed over!

This is what Oscar winning performance should be all about! Meryl did it so beautifully that I was actually moved to tears. Now, this is more than Oscar worthy. Give this woman another Oscar, quick!

We had our first trip to the Singapore Flyer with another couple, F & S. To protect their privacy (since they are ultra low profile and afraid that FBI will haunt them down if their gay status are being exposed), their pictures were not uploaded.
Okok, so we behaved like domestic tourists to board the Singapore Flyer but heck, this being the first and will most probably be the last trip up the Flyer so let's be "mountain tortoise"!
So compatible! Two humdy-dumdy on a bench! Kekekeke :D After the Flyer, we went to Orchard Hotel for a sumptuous porridge buffet, yummy!

Batman - The Dark Knight

The critic in me is itching once again and I declare that The Dark Knight is the BEST Batman yet!

I have just came back from the cinema watching The Dark Knight with my honey and I was in awe of the skillful directional efforts under Christopher Nolan.

Gotham City has never looked and felt so real and believable. A hero has never been so tormented and misunderstood until Batman.

Yes, The Dark Knight is much darker and makes the hero the misunderstood tormented soul but this is what Batman is all about. A misunderstood tormented hero.

Every main cast put in commendable and some, superior performances. The most outstanding and eye catching was definitely Health Ledger (well, almost everyone said that too!).

Joker may be the most memorable villian and a best vehicle to stand out but the actor who takes on a role like Joker must also be capable enough to flesh out the role and Health Ledger did a fantastic job!

I felt he had even outshone Jack Nicholson as the ultimate Joker representative and his performance in The Dark Knight was definitely the highlight in his career.

I was pretty surprised by the performance of Aaron Eckhart, besides Health Ledger, he had also stood tall with an outstanding performance. To me, I felt that Aaron Eckhart has that "Two-Face" face and that worked very well for the role of Two-Face. It was a pity that he was killed in The Dark Knight.

The thespians with the likes of Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman and Michael Caine shone just as bright. They brought credibility and believability to the roles and the movie itself.

Maggie Gyllenhaal did a far more impressive job as Rachel than Mrs Tom Cruise though not as pretty. In fact, I like Maggie Gyllenhaal's version of Rachel and was sad that Christopher Nolan had to kill her off.

I can't say our local actor, Ng Chin Han, did good enough to stand alongside the main cast but he did a commendable job still. Nothing too outstanding or impressive but not shabby either.

The laughing joke must be on Edison Chen, all the Hong Kong reports about him snagging a special appearance in The Dark Knight were simply hilarious and over-exaggerated!

His so-called special appearance was none other than an extra with dialogue! A blink and you sure missed appearance.

I hate to say this but even though Christian Bale single-handedly revive Batman in Batman Begins and made Batman all vulnerable and human-like, he was completely overshadowed by the strong cast in The Dark Knight.

Nonetheless, it's never easy portraying a hero since a hero needs to be always straight-faced and upright.

However, Christian Bale always excels in roles that are tormented and struggling with one's soul and he did bring vulnerability and believability to Batman.

So my advice is GO WATCH The Dark Knight and be tremendously entertained.

Just came back from watching this movie, The Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian with my dms.

To me, I thought the front part of the movie was a little draggy and slow but the tempo picked up when the war erupted.

Very similar to Lord of the Rings and Harry Porter series. Still, it is a watchable movie.

Staying at Fairmont Singapore

Had a stress-free and cosy stay over the weekend at Fairmont Singapore. Honey had enjoyed the gym while I had a good bubble bath!

It was also nice of our friends to drop by in the evening to have a hearty dinner and a chat in our room.

And she is definitely not the ultra friendly and oprah-esque Celine Dion, neither is she the very danceable, hot and sexy Beyonce but Madonna is the one who reinvented herself and music scene for the past 20 years.

BIG Big Thank You!

Finally! "Stand By Me" has came to a conclusion and I must say a big big thank you to all those who have taken time out to read this fictional story either on my blog or on Trevvy (slightly slower in uploading the story so it is still running.), especially to my "die hard supporter" = honey!

All encouragements were very sweet and morale booster. Ever since I wrote my first story, "Loving You", which steered more towards erotica writing, I have always wanted to out-do myself to write a longer story.

So when I wrote "Love Me Not" to be a 27-parter, I secretly challenged myself to aim writing a 30-parter story and that's how "Stand By Me" came about. Now, I have sort of fulfilled the aim I set myself; I am kinda lost as to if I should write again since there are now no more motivation to continue writing.

Still, if I do write again, it won't be anytime soon as per my usual habit, I will go into hibernation mode after finishing one story and the hibernation period usually lasts more than a few months.

Anyway, a quick recap. I have written "Loving You", "Prelude", "Unconditional Love", "Love Me Not", "NS Buddies", "Redemption", "Three Way", "To Be Loved Or To Love" and "Stand By Me". A total of 9 fictional stories so far! Whoa......

Short Getaway

I will be going for a short getaway with my honey and our friends over the weekends! Another trip to get out of Singapore just makes me so excited and happy.

So there will be a break from posting my fictional story - Stand By Me, for the next few days.....

Step Up 2 The Streets - Final Dance

I watched this movie with my honey on Monday and though we enjoyed the dance segments, we felt that Step Up 1 was more interesting and awe-inspiring. Of course, much thanks to Channing Tatum.

I was sharing with my honey that the opening sequence to this final dance, resembled 蔡依林MV爱无赦 and he barked that Jolin was too lian-ish compared to the movie!

But both got hand torchs what....

The Leap Years

Watched "The Leap Years" with my honey tonight. We had a great night though just normal routine of movie and dinner and drinks.

I felt that this movie is definitely one of the best local production and the story was touching and romantic. The cinematography made Singapore looked much more interesting and fun!

The cast were also competent, notably Li-Lin. She was very impressive and such a natural that I can't help but to believe her and laugh and wept with her. Yes, I got emotional over couple of scenes and can't help sobbing...

Darn.....It was a nice felt-good movie. Watch it!

Countdown To 2008 @ Siloso Beach Party

After bowing out of the countdown party scene for the past 3-4 years, we are back at the party scene this year @ Siloso Beach Party (courtesy to the VIP passes from Sentosa Leisure Group and of course, my boss)

Though it wasn't really a best of the year party but we got to have a nice cosy corner by ourselves and didn't have to worry about the crowd out there.
