Scotland - Tenant protection Bill passed

Tenants will have increased protection from rent increases and evictions during the cost of living crisis under temporary legislation passed by the Scottish Parliament.

The Cost of Living (Tenant Protection) Bill gives Ministers temporary power to cap rents for private and social tenants, as well as for student accommodation. The Bill also introduces a moratorium on evictions.

Singapore - Commencement of New Requirements under the Corporate Registers (Miscellenaeous Amendments) Act

The Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) implemented new requirements to strengthen Singapore’s corporate governance regime, and reaffirm Singapore’s commitment to combatting money laundering, terrorism financing and other threats to the integrity of the international financial system. 

The following requirements will take effect from today, following the passing of the Corporate Registers (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act by Parliament on 10 January 2022.

Taiwan ROC - Apple adds 3 Taiwan manufacturers to supplier list

U.S.-based consumer electronics giant Apple Inc. added three Taiwanese manufacturers to its supplier list in fiscal year 2021, while many others, such as iPhone assembler Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., IC packaging and testing services provider ASE Technology Holding Co., and contract chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) remained on the list.
