Australia: Changes to Training visa (subclass 407) application requirements

The Australian Government is updating Training (subclass 407) visa application requirements to ensure the program supports genuine skills development as intended.

From 11 March 2026, in addition to other validity requirements, all new applicants for a Training visa will need to wait for the following before they can make a valid Training visa application:

  • their sponsor must be approved as a temporary activities sponsor, and
  • their sponsor must have an approved Training visa nomination for them, unless the sponsor is a Commonwealth agency.

New Zealand: Upcoming changes to employment conditions for open work visa holders

On 20 April 2026, New Zealand Immigration Bureau will introduce changes to employment conditions for people with open work visas.

These changes are designed to provide clarity about what work is allowed under open work visas, helping migrants to better understand their rights and responsibilities. Clear and consistent visa conditions reduce uncertainty and support safer, fairer, and more compliant work practices for both migrants and employers.

New Zealand: 2026 opening dates for capped Working Holiday Schemes confirmed

The 2026 opening dates for capped Working Holiday Schemes (WHS) have now been confirmed.

Once each scheme opens, applications will be open until the places are filled. Once the places are filled, the scheme will close until 2027.
